Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today, Thursday, April 26, at the Dancy Funeral Home, 9 Smull Ave., Caldwell, for Lawrence S. Thees Jr., 65, formerly of North Caldwell, who died Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at Newton Memorial Hospital, Newton. A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 27, in Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church at 28 Livingston Ave., Roseland.
Born and raised in Sea Girt, Mr. Thees lived in North Caldwell from 1966 to 1983 before moving to Tulsa, Okla. Last year, he moved to Lake Mohawk.
He was the owner of Thees-Southwest, a machine tool company, in Tulsa for 10 years and retired in 1995. Before that, he was vice president of Standard Tool and Manufacturing Company, Lyndhurst, for more than 15 years.
A veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Thees was a Ranger in the Army.
He graduated from Delbarton School in Morristown in 1954 and earned a bachelor of arts degree in business from Villanova University in Villanova, Pa., in 1957.
Mr. Thees is survived by his daughter, Virginia Pivko, and her husband, Neil, of Sparta; his son Lawrence S. Thees III, and his wife, Sally, of Roseland; his son Matthew Thees, and his wife Michele, of Brick Township; a sister, Patricia McCrane of Tinton Falls, and five grandchildren. He was formerly married to Victoria P. Page Thees of Caldwell.
