Littleton Randolph Isbell was the son of Henry Isbell and Elizabeth (Littleton or Randolph) Isbell, who were married by 1744. Henry and Elizabeth also had a daughter Ann baptized at Prince Frederick Winyaw Parish, Georgetown, South Carolina, on 13 Sep 1744. Another daughter was Sarah who married William Hicklin. After Henry Isbell's death, Elizabeth Isbell married Robert Stewart.
Henry Isbell was from Virginia, "according to a letter in the Draper manuscripts." This Henry Isbell (born c1710-20)was not Henry Isbell Jr. but likely a son of William Isbell Jr. or another brother. This Henry is thought to have had a sister Philadelphia Isbell who married John Tuberville (Turbivil) Nov. 19, 1749, also in Prince Frederick Winyaw Parish, Georgetown, S.C. (The Register Book for the Parish Prince Frederick Winyaw p. 56). The Register Book for the Parish Prince Frederick Winyaw p. 35: "Lavina Turbivil, Daughter of John Turbivil and Philadelphia his Wife, Born Decemr ye 27th 1751, Baptized June ye 2d 1753."
Other children were said to be: "Mrs. Branch," Jesse, William, and John Turbeville (d.1763?). Lavina Turbeville, first cousin of Capt. Littleton Randolph Isbell, married Thomas Jasper Samford before 1775, later moved to Lexington Dist., SC., and then Alabama. She died 1833 in Fayette County, Alabama. Her son Thomas J. Samford was the father of William F. Samford married Susan Lewis Dowdell and their son was William James Samford (1844-1901), Governor of Alabama (1900-1901).
