Variously named Thomas Samford, Thomas Jasper Samford, Thomas J. Samford, and Lt. Thomas P. Samford in different family trees.
His alleged marriage to Mary Rutledge is uncertain, and is probably an error. However, their alleged son, Asa Sanford, has a descendant, Donald Ray Salmon, who shared DNA with me. Therefore, Asa's father may have been one of the brothers of Thomas Samford.

I tried to take a look at your matching DNA segments and did find that the segment on chromosome 16 also matches A833262 Timothy Riley who is a descendant of John Turbeville Samford. He is Triley9191 on Ancestry.
Your shared matched with Jerry have a lot of Samford descendants. I have listed them below (I haven’t checked every one of them that Ancestry has flagged a common ancestor to be sure that Samford is the connection, but the few I looked at all had

Jerry descends from William J Samford and Barbara Rebecca Snider. We are Shelby County TX Samfords (seems like half the county has a Samford connection).
