Lucy Jane Jordan Loving

From the "Stafford Stringfellow Story", by Charlotte Stafford. "She came to Morris county, TX from Alabama in the mid 18-hundreds and lived the remainder of her life in Morris county. She, too, is remembered by some of her great grandchildren. I (Lottie Stafford) remember her as always in a rocking chair, spinning great tales about her family coming to Texas in a covered wagon, encountering wretched weather and Indians on the long trip. She always had "snuff" in her lower lip, a "snuff bucket" on the floor by her chair (that snuff bucket was a rusty old tin can with a few inches of sand in the bottom). She sat, rocking away and spinning yarns and at the same time knitting -- she knitted beautiful lace, using fine thread. She is buried in the Loving section of Spring Hill cemetery, Morris county, TX.
