Dr. Chesley Page Forsyth

From the "Stafford Stringfellow Story" by Charlotte Stafford. Dr. Forsyth was born on a farm in Lincoln county, Tenn. and was raised there. He brought his brothers and sisters to Texas and married Lucy Jane Loving there. He settled in LJ's farm. He was considered a "saddle bag doctor; he learned medicine at Louisville, Kentucky. He had nine children, Adelaide being his first. He practiced medicine in Morris county (known as Titus county in the 18-hundreds) prior to the civil war. He served in the Civil War as a surgeon. After the war he returned to his home in Morris county where he continued his practice of medicine. He and his wife owned and operated a large farm where they had some agricultural lands as well as cattle land. He purchased the farm from his father-in-law, Migginson Loving. They began their married life in a log house, located at the same place that is now the residence of his grandson L. J. Forsyth. He is buried in the Loving cemetery section of Spring Hill cemetery, Morris county, Texas.
