Elaine Morfogen, ObituaryMorfogen--Elaine, lifelong New York resident, died October 2, 2013 at her home in Manhattan at the age of 83. Born December 11, 1929, she was the devoted daughter of Diamond and Sam Morfogen of New York and Anavriti, Lakonias, Greece. Miss Morfogen was a graduate of Parsons School of Design and taught figure drawing and illustration in Parsons. She is known for lush, layered oil paintings, pastels, drawings and watercolors, portraits of children, landscapes and flowers. Her illustrations appeared in Vogue, McCalls, Town & Country, Seventeen, Ladies Home Journal and Interview, and numerous books. She was featured in American Artist for her unique methods as a noted painter and illustrator. Her paintings also served as images for the award-winning short film, "A Texas Romance, 1909." She is survived by her sister Vivienne Braumand and brother George Morfogen, and nieces Leslie Brauman and Amanda Brauman King. Funeral services will be held at Frank E. Campbell, 1076 Madison Ave (81st) Monday, October 7th at 9:30 a.m. Interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
