NICHOLAS GEORGE JUVELISOf Chevy Chase, MD, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2016. Born on July 13, 1928, he was the son of the late Antigone and George N. Juvelis and was predeceased by his sister, Angelin Kalavritinos. He spent his early years surrounded by a large extended family of Greek immigrants in Newark, NJ, and moved to Washington, DC in 1944. A United States Army veteran, he served his country faithfully from 1951 to 1952. On September 1, 1963, he married Carlisle, PA native, Martha Fourlas. They were married for 53 years and were intensely devoted to one another. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Antigone (John) Delaney, Angela (John) Zimmerman and Georgia (Charles) Foley; six grandchildren, Megan, John, Alexandra, Nicholas, Clio and Declan; and his brother-in-law Nicholas J. Fourlas. He will long be remembered for his gentle nature, quick wit and love of old movies.
Viewing on Wednesday, August 24 from 3 to 5 p.m., (Trisagion service at 3:30) and 7 to 9 p.m., at Pumphrey Funeral Home, 7557 Wisconsin Avenue, Bethesda, MD. Funeral service Thursday, August 25 at 11 a.m., at The Greek Orthodox Church of Saint George, 7701 Bradley Boulevard, Bethesda, MD, followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 13801 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD.
