Services for John Weldon McDowell, 1160 E. Fifth St., No. 7, Delta,will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Delta City Cemetery. Members of theVFW Post 3571 will officiate.
Mr. McDowell died Sunday at the Delta County Memorial Hospital. He was68. He had been a resident of Delta for 35 years.
He was born Nov. 8, 1916, in Kirkman, Iowa. He spent his childhood inBrandon, Colo.
Mr. McDowell married Lila Sanderson Aug. 28, 1959, in Aztec, N.M. Mrs.McDowell, a homemaker, survives.
Mr. McDowell moved to Delta in 1949. He was a maintenance man for theU. S. Post Office in Delta, and had also worked for Holly Sugar Corp.He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was a life member of the VFW Post 3571 in Delta, and had served asa post commander for two terms. He was also a member of the Delta DAVand the Delta I.O.O.F.
Other survivors include mother, Frances McDowell of Grand Junction;three daughters, Kathryn Meuret of Fruita, ? (cut off) Baxter ofPaonia and ? (cut off) McDowell of Norman, Oklahoma. Son, RogerMcDowell of Glen(wood?) Springs; two stepsons, Jack ? of Berea, Calif.and J. H. Mal?? of Parowan, Utah; two sisters, I? Copeland of Denverand P? Tinsley of Grand Junction. ? grandchildren and onegreat-grandchild.
