" Mrs. Nancy Swanson, Visalia Pioneer, Dies -
Mrs. Nancy E. Swanson died early this morning in Visalia Hospital where she had been since she broke her hip in a fall last Saturday.
A native of Nemoha county, Kan., she was 80 years of age.
Mrs. Swanson was the widow of the late Oliver P. Swanson, Sr., who died in 1926. She came to California at the age of 11 years and moved to Visalia from Hanford after her marriage in 1888. Her father was a GAR veteran.
Mrs. Swanson was prominent in Visalia social life, being a member of the Methodist Church, Rebecca Lodge, Women of Woodcraft and Women's Relief Corps here.
She is survived by a son, Perry Swanson, Visalia; a daughter, Mrs. J.W. Clark, Los Angeles; three brothers, Samuel Garver and H. O. Garver, Visalia, and Joseph Garver, Sanger; three sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Doran,Tulare; Mrs. Maude Hilliard, Visalia, and Mrs. Edith Hallmeyer, Los Angeles.
She also leaves three grandchildren, Mrs. Sam Crandall, Springfield, Mass.; Miss Betty Swanson, Visalia, and Leonard P. Swanson, Visalia, and one great grandchild.
Final services will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in the Hadley Chapel, the Rev. Hugh K. Hamilton, officiating. Burial will be in Visalia Cemetery."
