"Mrs. Flora McDowell entertained with a party Friday night in honor ofher grandson, Bernard Young. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Harry McDowelland son, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Britton and family, Mr. and Mrs. RayWidner and Paul McDowell."

"Mrs. Flora McDowell is Called by Death
Mrs. Flora McDowell, 64, widow of John McDowell, died at 3 o'clockthis morning at the home of her daughter, Ruth Widner, near Onward.
She was born Feb. 13, 1873, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Waggaman.In 1892 she was united in marriage to Mr. McDowell and to this unionsix children were born: Mr. McDowell died July 11, 1927. Surviving arethree sons, Ray of Kokomo; Paul and Harry of near Onward; Mrs. MaryBritton of near Onward; Mrs. Martha Young of Peru and Mrs. Widner andtwo brothers W. O. Waggaman of Indianapolis and Charles Waggaman ofAustin, Ind.. Mrs. McDowell was a member of the Onward Christianchurch.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock atthe Onward Christian church conducted by Rev. K. E. Thorne. Burialwill be made in Bunker Hill cemetery." Copy in file.

"Mrs. Flora McDowell Funeral Conducted
Funeral rites for Mrs. Flora E. McDowell, 64, widow of John McDowell,who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ruth Widner, in Onward,following a several months illness of aneamia [sic], were conductedfrom the home of the daughter. Rev. K. E. Thorne, pastor of theChristian church in Peru, officiated. Interment was made in SpringdaleCemetery, near Bunker Hill."

"Bunker Hill, March 20--(Tribune Special)--Mrs. Flora E. McDowell, 54,widow of John McDowell, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. RuthWidner, in Onward, at 2 o'clock Saturday morning. Death was caused byanemia.
Born in Cass county, the daughter of James and Elizabeth Waggaman, shewas married to John McDowell in 1892. The husband preceded her indeath July 11, 1927. She was a member of the Onward Christian church.
Surviving are three sons, Ray McDowell, 718 South Indiana avenue,Kokomo; Harry McDowell, near Onward; and Paul McDowell, Onward; andthree daughters, Mrs. Mary Britton, near Onward; Mrs. Martha Young,116 East Fifth street, Peru; and Mrs. Widner, at whose home she passedaway. In addition two brothers, W. O. Waggaman of Indianapolis andCharles Waggaman of Austin, Ind., survive.
