According to the bio, Walter and Helen had two children, who lived in Montana at the time the bio was written. Walter lived all of his life in and around Madison County, MT. He worked at farming and mining but spent most of his life as a cowboy.
When their daughter was born, they lived on the Jacob Bauer place up North Meadow Creek. In 1926 they became proud owners of their first car,, a Model T touring. Many trips were made to the Parent home, a considerable distance up the creek over mountain roads. The last few miles had several steep grades and the procedure was, everyone pile out and push the "jitney". It was worth the energy expended, however, as there was always in store a delicious dinner prepared by Grandma Parent and her daughter Alice.
Walter was one of the first members of the Woodmen Lodge in Ennis. Lodge meetings were held in the building which is now occupied by the Economy Store. At that time there was a second story which was the Lodge Hall and the ground floor was a dance hall. At the time of Helen's death, Nov. 1938 at McAllister, Walter was working at the Revenue Mine. He continued there for several years. Later he worked for Jess and Stanton Frisbie and the Sinton Ranches at Manhattan. After retiring he lived at McAllister until his death October 7, 1964. They are both buried in the McAllister Cemetery.
Obituary states he died in the Silver Bow General Hospital in Butte after a long illness. He had been in failing health for about eight years. Funeral services were in the Presbyterian Church at McAllister with Rev. Clark N. McKinney officiating. Pallbearers were Edwin Hughes, Lewis Hughes, Gordon Parent, Morris McDowell, Stanton Frisbie and Robert Ketchingman. The Raper Funeral Home was in charge of funeral. Gives birth date and place, parents' names, including mother's maiden name, and gives wife's name and death date. Listed two children including daughter's married name, and residence. Other survivors were sister Allie Morrison of Porterville, CA, and five grandchildren.
Social Security Death Index at Rootsweb gives birth date and month and year of birth. Social Security number was 517-03-9183, issued in Montana.
