Article in Centennial History of Poweshiek County provided by theHistorical Society, has a short bio of Alva and a small photo ofNellie and Jeff Vincent. The article read:
"Alva Vincent the son of Jeff and Nellie White Vincent was born July1892 on a farm south of Searsboro.
He married Edith Gregson (born August 19, 1891) daughter of Date andLucy Gregson October 18, 1911 in the same house that Edith still livesin.
Alva and Edith lived 1 year in a farm south of Searsboro then moved totown. He carried the mail out of Searsboro for 18 years. He was killedwhen a train struck his car January 17th 1936.
Alva and Edith had 3 children Pauline Smith living in SearsboroEvelyne Lewis who lives in Forestville, Connecticut and Alva Jr. wholives in Iowa City. Edith married Bert Easter in 1951. Bert diedJanuary 1, 1963."
Complete birth date as well as dates of all children from writtenmemo by Glendora Vincent for Evelyne Vincent 6 Sep 1982 in thepossession of Becky Smith. There is no notation as to where sheobtained that date, but it has a number of other Vincent names anddates. Probable that this is the same Evelyne who is one of Alva'sdaughters.
