pp. 488-493 - This indenture made the fourth day of October in year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy nine Between Thomas Davis and Elizabeth his wife of County of Prince William of one part and John McMillian of County aforesaid, Gentleman, of other part: Witnesseth that Thomas Davis and Elizabeth his Wife in consideration of the sum of Five shillings current money of Virginia to them in hand paid by John McMillian, do bargain and sell unto John McMillian two several tracts of land lying in County of Prince Wm. one of which tracts of land contains Fifty eight acres being part of the tract of land whereon the said Thomas Davis now lives and purchased by the said Thomas Davis from a certain BENJAMIN COOPER and ANN, his wife, to which said ANN the land was devised by WARRINGTON SPILLER, her Father, as by the Deed from the said Cooper & Wife to said Davis and the Last Will and Testament of the said Spiller duly recorded among the Records of said County Court may fully appear; the other tract of land containing Ninety acres purchased by the said Thomas Davis from a certain James Ingo Dozier by Deed dated the 6th day of August 1772, and is bounded, Beginning at the line of Francis Jackson at the head of the Old Mill Pond, to the new Dam, thence to Occoquan so as to include the said Ninety acres as by said Deed duly recorded among the Records of said County Court may fully appear; which said two several tracts of land contain in the whole One hundred and Forty eight acres and all houses orchards profits and appurtenances to sd premises belonging; To have and to hold the lands hereby conveyed with the appurtenances unto John McMillian or assigns during the full term of one whole year paying therefore the Rent of one Pepper Corn on Lady Day next if the same shall be lawfully demanded,, to the intent that by virtue of these presents and of the Statute for transferring uses into possession the sd. John McMilliam may be in the actual possession of the premises and thereby enabled to accept a release of the inheritance thereof; In Witness whereof the said Thomas Davis and Elizabeth his Wife have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written.
