According to the bio, Myrtle was pianist for the community dances during the times when a hat was passed among the dancers for money to pay the musicians. She was a very loyal worker for the Welfare Club. She and an assistant located and marked correctly all the graves in the Meadow Creek Cemetery.

Ennis - Funeral services for Myrtle McDowell, 95, of McAllister will be Thursday at 10 at the Rocky Mountain Baptist Church in Ennis, with the Rev. Dan Hayek officiating. Burial will be in Meadow Creek Cemetery in McAllister.
Mrs. McDowell died Monday at the Madison Valley Hospital in Ennis.
She was born Aug. 4, 1895, to George and Minnie (Buell) Schabarker at Meadow Creek near McAllister. She received her early education at the Meadow Creek school and attended high school in Bozeman.
She married Maurice McDowell Dec. 12, 1915, in the Methodist Church in McAllister.
She spent her entire life in the Madison Valley except for two years spent in Portland during World War II and two years in Helena, where she lived with her son and later in a nursing home there.
She had been a resident of the Madison County Nursing Home for many years.
Mrs. McDowell was a pianist for the community dances for many years, was a longtime member of the Welfare Club in McAllister serving in officer positions and was an active volunteer at Madison Valley Hospital in its formative years. She also worked for the Postal Service during the 1940s and was a rural mail carrier.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1972, and sons, Fay and Lloyd, in the early 1980s.
Survivors include son, George J. of Spokane; daughter, Beverly Kraussof Moscow, Idaho; brother, Ray Schabarker of Ennis; 11 grand-children; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Madison County Nursing Home in Ennis.
