"Lloyd enlisted in the Civilian Conservation Corp and was stationed at Superior, Montana, later returning to the Madison Valley where he was employed as a truck driver. He worked on the Norris Hill Project, at which time he met Alice Arrnett whom he married October 25, 1935, at Jeffers, Montana. The couple moved to Darby, Montana in 1935, where Lloyd worked on a highway construction project as a caterpillar operator. He also worked as a LeTourneau operator at the Ruby Dam Project. From there, Lloyd did construction work all over the state including gold mining projects at Marysville and Eldorado Bar.
He also worked as a master mechanic for a construction company, and as a welding instructor in a government school in Helena.
In 1943, they moved to Portland, Oregon, where he worked at Swan Island Ship Yard as a welding supervisor during World War II. They then moved to Astoria, where he was a salesman for an auto parts store, and from there to Eugene, Oregon in 1947. He later worked as a salesman and then as a factory representative for a brake lining company, until he started his own business in 1962 - The Automotive Industrial Sales, out of Eugene, Oregon."
