Isaac Webb Scott
(7 Jun 1814 - 28 Jul 1904)
His early life was passed at this father's farm near Lexington, KY. Although he became president of the Red River Iron Works for years, his principal occupation was that of a cotton manufacturer. His wife died in 1852, leaving five small children, the eldest aged 13 and the youngest 8 days old. On May 15, 1855 he married Sarah Pickett who was from Virginia. IN the spring of 1874 he moved to Bement, IL. He returned to Lexington about 1886. He was a vigorous, progressive man and accumulated a large landed interest. First being a Whig, he joined the new Republican party. He and his first wife were Presbyterians, he being an elder for many years. He was buried in the Lexington Cemetery.
He was heir to Negro slave, John, from his great-aunt Winnie Webb.
Several members of his family had portraits painted by William Ver Bryck of Lexington and NY in 1868.
