Individual Details
Vernon Alpheaus Gatchell
(10 Jul 1913 - 14 Oct 1988)
See 1930 Tuscarawas Co. census, Mill Twp. # 38, for Vernon Gatchell, 16, in the home of his uncle Jesse Gatchell, where he lived after his father, Job Workman drowned.
Vernon Gatchell was a very quiet and a very attractive man, though he and his family did not have much to do with the family for many years. He felt he was the "black sheep" because he married a Catholic woman. In later years, they interacted with the family, and held large dinners and served wonderful Italian dishes, prepared by his wife, Dora, and her mother, Mrs. Orino. They lived east of Dennison, on St. Rt. 250.
