We know that John married and lived in Wales but his relationship with his father must have been strained. His father stated in his 1811 will that John was not to receive his full portion of his legacy as long as his first wife (unnamed) was still alive. He was only to receive the interest from the legacy. If John died before his wife only his children were to receive the legacy.
