Christian Hirschi Senior
(Abt 1660 - 1670 - 1720)
Christian Hersche, Sr. fled Schangnau, Switzerland for Friedelsheim, Palatinate, Germany, either as a child in 1672 with his parents (most likely to Don Brubaker) or during the second great persecution of Anabaptists in 1710. In either case, he came to America with his family in 1717.
Christian Hersche was a bishop. Hans Brubaker and he purchased 1,000 acres along current Pennsylvania route 23 at Little Conestoga Creek in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in 1717. President James Buchanan's home was built on this tract of land.
Peter Hersche has refuted any connection of the Hershey family line that include chocolate magnate Milton Hershey has having come from Appenzell Innerhoden, Switzerland.
