Jay was baptized, St. Peter's Catholic Church, North St. Paul MN; godparents
were an uncle, Anthony Gartmann, and a great aunt, Theresa Gartmann Dierks.
Jay is engaged to Grit Shirley Jantos of Gera, Germany. Grit was born June 1,
1966 in
Gera, Thueringen, Germany, and has a daughter, Julia Jantos, born November 17,
1985. Grit and Julia currently reside in Gera where Grit is employed as a LPN.
Grit's parents are Rainer Jantos, born January 6, 1943 in Germany, and
Heidemarie Fritz, born March 1, 1944 in Gera, Thueringen, Germany.
Jay met Grit in 1990 when he spent four months traveling and studying
photography and art in Europe in 1990. A spring or summer, 1996, wedding is
planned.
1996 Addendum: Jay and Grit were married May 4, 1996 in Washington county,
Minnesota. Grit returned to Germany and Jay is completing his last year of
college here. They are still undecided as to where they will live.

college at the University of
Wisconsin-River Falls. His field is art--fibers and basketery. He works with
various materials including barb wire and bronze casting. He has had work on
display in several national art shows.
