BIRTH-MARRIAGE-CHILDREN-PARENTS: FGS prepared by Frances Greaux; 1943-1995;
Frances Greaux; ; FGS in possession of AFH;;.
On September 1, 1995 Henry and I will make our 30th Anniversary. It has been a
good marriage. We were blesed with one daughter, Marie and have two lovely
grandchildren, Christopher age 7, and Jessica age 4. Christopher made high
honors for the entire school year. I hope the years to follow will be as good.
Henry worked 34 years for the Virgin Island government, Department of Planning
and Natural Resources. Working with printing and photography machines,
microfilming newspapers, Birth Certificates as well as various church records.
He also, set up and maintained a photograph file of people and places
throughout the islands. Retiring was one of the best decisions he ever made
and now he has been trying to catch up on all of the other things that somehow
were set on the back burner. He is still selling Lottery Tickets as a side job
and Christopher has spent most of the summer with him. We are still waiting
for that big win!!
As for myself, I worked with Vitelco for a year, then moved on to Vitraco, Inc.
as a Secretary in the Purchasing Department for eight years. I am presently
working with the Virgin Island Government, Department of Health in the Budget
Control Office and also fill in as Secretary to the Deputy Commissioner of
Financial Services. My first position was as an Administrative Secretary I 21
years ago and I have worked up to Office Manager.
I also have a great love to dig in the dirt, so our yard is full of plants.
Some day (when I retire) I want to get organized and have a Nursery. I also
have been enjoying our fresh water well and have been trying to grow some
vegetables to cut that high cost of groceries, but somehow flowers always come
first. Our soil is so poor (as it was a Sugar Cane Plantation many years ago)
that it is hard to get things to produce properly. I guess it all takes time.
We do have a very good market for Mangos and Limes. The best selling products
on the island are fish, sweet potatoes, limes, mangos, bananas, plantains and
avocados.
We are very sorry that we cannot attend the family reunion but things are just
too busy at work this time of year.
Hello to all and we would love to see some pictures.
