Betty Redmond

Betty Redmond, age 86, died Sunday, Dec. 25, 2016 at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabiltation Center following an extended illness.
Funeral Services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday morning, Dec 29, 2016 at the Gosettsch Funeral Home, Monticello where friends called after 9 a.m. Interment was in the Oakwood Cemetery. Fr. Paul Baldwin officiated at the services.
Surviving are four daughters, Carolyn Dirks, Diane Adams and Jennifer (David) Klaren, all of Monticello, Linda (Bob) Kirkwood, Hopkinton, nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, a brother Clarence (Laura) Eiben, Monticello, her sister, Marion (Jim) Blunt, Scotch Grove and several brothers and sisters-in-law. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George in 2002 and five brothers, John, Paul, Harold, Art and Irving Eiben.
Betty Marie Eiben was born June 25, 1930 in Bowens Prairie, Richland Township, Jones County. She was the daughter of Henry and Ella Warner, Eiben. Betty attended school in Hopkinton and North Boulder near Praireburg. She worked at the Reliance Shirt Factory in Anamosa. She also detasseled corn and worked at Longs Caning Factory. Betty Eiben and George Redmond were married on July 2, 1951 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Temple Hill. The couple lived in Monticello and Betty worked at Monty Produce. She also did babysitting for a number of years.
Betty loved to garden and can the produce she grew. She always loved to be around children.
