Benjamin Franklin "Ben" Eilers

Ben Eilers, son of Renk Eilers living 2 1/2 miles southeast of town, while walking on a pole in the barn fell to the floor breaking his right arm just above the wrist.

Benjamin Eilers' horse became frightened at the cars, last Sunday, while he was driving on First street, and took a lively turn around the Condon corner, overturning the buggy and spilling the driver out into the mud. There was no damage worth mentioning.

Ben F. Eilers Buried TodayInterment Service Had a Oakwood
Benjamin F. Eilers, a respected resident of Monticello, passed away at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, after an extended illness. Funeral services were held at the Goettsch funeral home this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Roy V. Porter, Methodist minister, officiated. Interment was made at Oakwood cemetery. The pallbearers were nephews of Mr. Eilers, and were Frank, Glenn, Carl, Vincent, Harry and Clarence Eilers.
Mr. Eilers was a son of Renk and Maria Harms Eilers. He was born June 14, 1880, near Monticello, and was united in marriage to Virginia Tuel of Monticello, Dec 11, 1901. They became the parents of nine children, three daughters preceding Mr. Eilers in death. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Harry Hoag and Mrs. Margaret Tuetken, Monticello, and Mrs. Dewey Rhatigan, Clarence, and three sons, Renk, of Center Junction, Harold and Vernon Eilers, Monticello. He is also survived by two brothers, Barney Eilers and Alva Eilers, both of Monticello; twelve grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
During the major portion of his active life Mr. Eilers was engaged in farming but more recently had retired. His death occurred at the home of his son, Harold, near Monticello.
