Individual Details

Captain James Lockhart

(12 Feb 1791 - Mar 1858)

James was a ship builder and sea captain. He built the schooner Hercules at Avonport and kept the first light house at Hortonville, Nova Scotia (Eagles).

The Horton, town register of births, marriages and deaths, 1751-1895 has the following family listed - possibly this James Lockhart - (Note - James is not listed in this register as a child of David and Mercy, though date wise he would fit.)
James Lockhart (Died March 1855) & Rebecca
Married Dec 26, 1816
Ruth Amelia born Aug 11, 1817
Rebecca born May 31, 1819 (page smeared, hard to read)

His father was:
JAMES LOCKHART born around 1700 and died 1789. He married Rebecca around 1720.
They settled in Horton Township, Nova Scotia, Canada circa 1762. (Probably from Northern Ireland.)
Captain James had an older brother John (born 11.22.1788). John had a son, John Alexander. He had a son, BENJAMIN -- who is listed in your geneaology. So, the way I figure it, BEN's grandfather (John) and my great great great grandfather (James) were brothers.
