Individual Details

William Lovejoy

(4 Aug 1778 - 6 Jul 1872)

William married his second cousin, Attai Lovejoy. In 1806, William and his brother, Stephen, received their father's home farm and lived together until family discord prompted them to arrange separate households. They continued in the lumbering business but met with failure and lost all their money. William Lovejoy bought a small far in Fayette but "through knavery of the seller" lost the farm in a legal tangle and in 1814 went to St. Stephen, N. B. to engage in saw mill work, buying a house in Milltown. Late in life William and his wife moved to Minneapolis to live with their oldest son.
