The 1870 census for Seguin Post Office, Guadalupe County, Texas shows N. Hawkins, age 37, and H. Hawkins,
age 36, living in the household of Margaret Brown, age 67. (Note: These two individuals are the brothers,
Benjamin N. Hawkins and Lewis H. Hawkins, who came to Texas from Kentucky in 1869, settling in Guadalupe
County and then moving to Gonzales County in 1872.)
The 1880 census for Guadalupe County, Texas lists Ben N. Hawkins, age 48, a farmer and head of the household,
his wife, Martha J., age 32, a boy, Juett F., age 7, and a girl, Benni N., age 5. (Note: The two children belong to
Medley McGee whose wife, Nancy Reynolds, died in 1877.)
The 1900 census for Wilson County, Texas lists Benjamin Hawkins, age 49, widowed, b. October 1850 in Ky.,
father b. in Va., mother b. in Ky. (Note: If this is the correct Benjamin Hawkins, his birth date is way off.
According to Stockdale Cemetery records, B. N. Hawkins was born 30 October 1832 and died 27 May 1901.
Buried with B. N. is Martha J. Hawkins, born 13 July 1847 and died 15 August 1881.)
