Symon McCulloch

( - )

Title appears to first have been transferred to Alexander’s brother Symon on 30 Aug 1530, according to a reference provided in A History of the Galloway Families of McCulloch, Walter Jameson McCulloch of Ardwall, 1969. Henry McCulloch of Killasser married Margaret McCulloch the daughter of Symon, therefore he is the son-in-law of Symon rather than Alexander. In 1546, after the death of Henry, Margaret resigned the barony of Myretoun in favor of her son Symon McCulloch. (Epperson)

Symon McCulloch: Based on the information for his brother, Alexander (see Alexander's notes), Symon McCulloch received Myrton from his brother Alexander and gave it to his daughter Margaret, who had married Henry of Killasser. Therefore it was the son-in-law of Symon who “inherited” Myrton rather than Alexander’s daughter Margaret and her husband, her second cousin Alexander McCulloch, who was killed at the battle of Flodden.
