Zebulon Garrison

(22 Oct 1770 - 1830)

I (Karen Simmons) am a direct descendant (ggggranddaughter) of Zebulon Garrison who had a brother Salisberry Garrison who died in Pendleton district about 1796. In 1807 Zebulon traveled to South Carolina from his home in Georgia to deal with matters concerning his brother Salisberry's estate. Their mother Eleanor was in the 1790 census of Greenville, NC and in the 1800 census of Pendleton, SC. Parish records in New Castle, Delaware show that Elinor Robinson married John Garrison January 21, 1755. The Bible of Zebulon Garrison's son William shows that his grandmother's name was Elinor Robinson Garrison and that she died in Georgia. Zebulon and several of his family were in Franklin County, Georgia after leaving Pendleton, SC and before moving North, first to Tennessee, and then to Montgomery County, Illinois by 1829. That is where they stayed and where I was born. (Simmons)

Zebulon appears in the records of Franklin County Georgia from about 1800 until after the 1820 census. After a brief stop in Tennessee, Zebulon and part of his family moved on to Illinois by 1829. This is the line of the late Sam Garrison as he was also my third cousin. He believed that he had gathered solid proof that Zebulon’s parents were John Garrison and Elinor Robinson of New Castle, DE. (Simmons 2009)
