Individual Details
William Larkin
(Est 1785 - 11 Jun 1814)
Imported notes:
Alternate dob's, Abt. 1790 and abt 1775.
Research and source notes: Deborah Sweet -
1) There were Will and Guardianship papers filed in Hardin Co., KY on
William and his minor children.
2) George's parents were probably William and Elizabeth (Washer) Larkin.
Ancestry.comhad a tree giving a Cinderella Larkin, parents not given,
b.1811, Hardin Co.KY, mar. Thomas Florence. This was probably George's
sister, hence George naming a daughter of his own, Cinderella. The people
who listed the Florence line(need to go back a get source info), when
contacted originally, did not think George was connected. However, since
finding more info, especially his daughter's name Cinderella, I believe
that the probability of kinship is very strong. Anyway, the Larkins in
Hardin Co. KY, 1810 & 1820 censuses, are:
William (1810, unk. Twp., 4 male children under 10; 1 male 26 to
under 45; 1 fem. child under 10; 1 fem. 26 to under 45)
Elizabeth (1820, Little York Twp., 4 male ch. under 10; 2 males 10
to under 16; 1 male 16 to 18; 1 fem. under 10; 1fem. 10 to under 16; 1
fem. 26 to under 45 - assuming Wm. dead by then). To be noted for both
census years: the category for "Foreigner not naturalized" is checked off
- one person. This must be Elizabeth, as William is absent from the
second census, but the designation remains.
I have not looked for the Florence fam. in MO, but believe that they
may have stayed in KY, as all children shown being born there through
1855.

1. Looking for information about the John Larkin who was in Hardin
Co., KY in the early 1800's. John was present at the estate sale of
William Larkin in Hardin Co in 1814. I think John and William are
related. Jean
2. MY Reply: It is possible that your Johnmay be brother to my
George Larkin. I think that George was a son of William and Elizabeth
Larkin. There is also a strong probability George had a sister named
Cinderella (b. 1811) who married Thomas Florence. Still piecing this
family together, and these connections are tenuous. It is known that
George had a son named John Rudolph Larkin, and a daughter named
Cinderella (my line) as well as many other children by two wives. George
was b. 1813, in Hardin Co.(prob.), KY. Have checked 1810 & 1820 KY
Censuses- William on 1810 Hardin Co. KY, no twp. with 4 males under 10;
1 male 26 to under 45; 1 fem. under 10;1 fem. 26 to under 45
In 1820, Elizabeth is the head of household, assumed William died -
Little York Twp, 4 males under 10; 2 males 10 to under 16; 1 male16-18; 1
fem. under 10; 1 fem. 10 to under 16; 1 fem. 26 to under 45. Both 1810 &
1820 also have the following category checked, which must be for
Elizabeth: "Foreigner, not naturalized".
George married in Allen Co., KY to Elizabeth STOVALL (aka STOBAUGH).
They moved to Jefferson Co. MO bet 1837 & 1840,Then to Dent Co. bet.
1857 & 1860. The Larkin fam. was very close with the WARDEN family, also
from KY, moving to MO at the same time, and living next to each other in
DENT CO. MO. George's 2d wife Odeal is my line. George was killed shortly
after the 1870 census by next door neighbor Thomas Warden over a
confrontation having to do with a possible affair between George's wife
Odeal, and Thomas.
3. Jean's reply: Yes, I am quite certain we are researching the very
same family. I am in the process of building a gedcom file with the data
I have right now. Please e-mail me directly Jeanalongi@aol.com
