Prudence Stockton married Edward Holyoke June 18, 1612 at Kimcote, Leicester, England. Her father, Rev. John Stockton, was Rector of Kimcote, (formerly parson at Alcester, Warwickshire, England).[1]

Grocer (London) bef 1637.Edward was a wealthy proprietor of Massachusetts Bay Colony, the second largest land owner with over five hundred acres. He was well-educated and owned what was at that time and place a very large private library. [1]

Note H472 Was first mentioned in the will of his father in 1587. Was mentioned as chief heir of his great uncle, Edward, in 1591 who bequeathed to him various Warwickshire properties in Tanworth, Wooten Waven, Ullenhall, and Henley in Arden. Was again mentioned in the 1611 will of Margaret Holyoke, the widow of his great uncle, Edward.After marrying Prudence, they lived in London where he worked as a grocer. Then, he moved back to Tanworth. In 1627, he was a witness to the will of his half brother, Robert Wilcox, Jr.. In 1627, was legatee and overseer of his stepfather's will. In 1630, Prudence was named in the will of her father, the Rev. John Stockton of Kimcote and Walton, [6] Leicestershire, England and Edward signed as witness. Left for America about 1637 settling first in Lynn, Massachusetts and then settling in Rumney Marsh (now Chelsea, Massachusetts Bay Colony). Served as New England agent for Lord Brooke. Appointed Associate Judge of Salem Court in 1639 and was reappointed in 1640-1642. Served as Deputy to General Court for Lynn from 1639-43 and from 1647-48. Served as Deputy for Springfield in 1650.Prudence died before 1648. [2] Edward married, most likely in Boston before 1648, Anne (Taylor), widow of Richard Tuttle.[2] Edward's daughter Mary, in Boston on 10 February 1647/8, married John Tuttle, son of Anne (Taylor) Tuttle and Richard Tuttle.[2] [1]"The will of John Holliock, of Alcester, Warwick, mercer... proved 31 Jan 1587/8 names his wife Elizabeth; father-in-law Richard Stokes; children Mary and Edward and another unborn. John Stockton was a witness."[1]
