Hannah Herta Eilertsen born Sept. 22, 1883 in Dakota Territory, what is now Gardner, Cass County, North Dakota.

In October of 1898 she with her father, sister Mary and brother Senius moved by covered wagon taking along sheep, cattle, chickens, household supplies, and some machinery to Stutzman County near what is now Woodworth.

Father purchased a section of prairie land at $3.00 per acre and started a sheep ranch.

In 1902 Herta attended Valley City Normal School taking the commercial course.

In 1903 she enrolled at Dakota Business College at Fargo, North Dakota taking shorthand and typing. Then working at a bank in Meddock, North Dakota during the fall months.

Later she worked at the Jamestown State Hospital for two years.

In 1907 she filed on 160 acres in Billings County, 16 miles south of Sentinal Butte. This is now Golden Valley County.

Married May 14, 1909.

Lived in Chicago the winters of 1914 and 1915.

Lived in Elk River the summer of 1914, coming there to live permanent the following spring. A home was then purchased.

Lived in Willow River on a farm(1922-26). In West Concord 1926-33).

Moved to Albuquerque New Mexico the spring of 1933. Came to California the spring of 1936. Purchased a home at Mentone, California in 1949.

Sold the spring of 1963 and moved to an apartment in Redlands.

In California she worked as hospital and sanatorium cook and as a practical nurse until she retired at 65 years. After that she worked in a day nursery until almost 71 years old while living in her home at Mentons, California.

In 1966 she came to Glenwood to live with Edna and Joe.

In 1980 she choose to go into the Glenwood Retirement Home

She died May 13, 1983 at 99ys, 7 months, 21 days.

Interment Glenwood Lutheran Cemetery, Glenwood, MN.
