January 7, 1806 Russell County Court: Colebird Fugate vs David Conley, attachment, constable summoned Isam Hall & James Morgan as garnishees. Isam Hall declares that has 1 kittle, 1 box with sundry tools, 1 felling axe, i tenant saw, 2 tomahawks nearly i whole side of leather & 2 pieces of leather, states that the def is indebted to him. James Morgan declares that he has 1 wedge, 1 piece of wedge, 1 mattock, 1 frow, 1 pair of drawing chains, 1 iron, 1 howell, 1 foor adz, 1 handsaw, 3 old weeding hoes, 3 sang hoes, 2 drawing knives, 1 shovel, plough & colter, 3 old augers, some gouges, some chisels, 1 clevis pin, 2 small rings & and other tools & pieces of tools not now well recollected. Judgement granted the pltf. Russell County, Virginia Law Order Book 3 (1799-1808) Part 2 page 480.
June 28, 1804, Russell County Court of Quarterly Session: Gideon Morgan produced a license from Grayson Co. permitting him to offer for sale or barter goods, wares & Merchandise for foreign growth or manufacture as a hawker or pedlar, recorded. Russell County, Virginia Law Order Book 3 (1799-1808) Part I page 328. Could this be a relative of James currently living in Russell County or David who may have previously lived in the County? Also, could the Morgan family have previously lived in Grayson County?
1860 Letcher County census only lists Rebecca Morgan.
