George H Drew Falls From a Load of Potatoes and Crushed
George H Drew, formerly of Hasty, who moved to Elk River some months ago where he bought a farm died at the Northweatern Hospital at Princeton on Wednesday night just as a result of injuries sustained when a wagon loaded with potatoes passed over him. The unfortunate affair occurred Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Mr Drew was driving a team hitched to a load of potatoes and one of the lines became caught under the front end of the pole. He walked out to the pole to release the line, when one of the horses lunged forward. Mr Drew fell to the ground, and the loaded wagon passed over his body. The unfortunate man was rushed to the Northwestern Hospital, but injuries were such as to preclude hope of recovery. Internal hemorrages and ruptured liver caused death. The remains were shipped to Montevideo Thursday morning for burial. Funeral services were conducted by Rev Henry Holmes and the body interred to Riverside. The accident was a great shock to his aged parents Mrs and Mr Levi Drew of Montividel and his young wife. They have the sympathy of the entire community.
