Another old message from Nancy Clark Brown dated 3-15-98.
"I cannot seem to get this Baker mystery off my mind. I found another
daughter for James Walter & Elizabeth Shepherd Baker, her name was
Nancy Baker and she was the second wife of Ezekiel Bolling, son of
Jeremiah Bolling. If the story I sent you by Connie Bolling has any
merit then James was still at Baker's Rock in 1840. The Mary Mullins
that James Walter Baker married was the daughter of Joshua Mullins and
Mary Caudill. Wish we could identify all 7 women. How many children
did Elizabeth have by her second husband?

The children down to Ellender Bolling age 5 in 1850 census are
children of Ezekiel and his first wife Sharon Carr of the 1840
census.The child Sarah "Sally" Bowlin age 1 is Nancy Baker's according
to Sarah's death cert.,and son.The children after Sarah are Ezekiel
and Nancy Davis's,his 3rd wife he would marry on Sept.13,1852 after
this 1850 census.It does not appear he had any children by Nancy Baker
he married on April 19,1849 because Sarah was born Feb.29,1848 before
their marriage and Nancy Baker was already age 38 in 1849 when she
married Ezekiel.But according to the death certificate of Sarah Boling
Bartley,Nancy Baker was her mother and Ezekiel her father.It appears
she was born before they married.Baker is probably her former married
name? In later census's you will find Ezekiel's children spread around
with other family members.His first wife most likely died between 1845
- 1849.He had to remarry to have someone to care for his
children.seven which were still at home.In 1852 he married the younger
Nancy Davis who was about age 21 or 22 when they married.
