L.S. Kerr Estate Valued at $77,837
New York - The estate left by the late Louis Sayre Kerr, 207 Madison Avemue, Spring Lake, NJ, a member of the New York Stock Exchange for half a century, was appraised by the New York State Transfer Tax department at $77,837 gross value and $44,367 net.
The residuary estate is divided between two sons, Samuel K Kerr, Trenton, and Lewis S Kerr, Pitney Avenue, Spring Lake. A legacy of $15,000 is left Alice Nesbitt Lawrence, Great Falls, Mont., formerly of 102 Elberon Avenue, Allenhurst, NJ.
Mr Kerr died June 2, 1943 in New York at 71.
( Out of curiosity, I found that $77,000 in 1944 had the same purchasing power as $1,068,405.97 in 2017.)

New York - Lewis Sayre Kerr, Pitney Avenue, Spring Lake, will share in the estate of the late Mrs. Edith G Kissam, New York society matron, according to the terms of her will offered for probate in Surrogates court here Thursday.
Mr Kerr will receive one-fourth the proceeds from the sale of the Kissam home at 9 East 76th St, in the fashionable East-Side here. Principal legatee is a niece Mrs. Dorothy Haynes Vollmer, NY.
Mrs. Kissam, wife of William Adams Kissam, retired president of the South American Development company, a gold mining firm, died Dec 16 at the age of 82. Her estate, not yet appraised, is declared formally to be "over $20,000."

Lewis Kerr Shares in Uncle's Estate
New York - Councilman Lewis Sayer Kerr, Spring Lake, N J will share in the estate let by his uncle, the late William Adams KIssam, NY, under the terms of his will filed for probate in Surrogate Court here.
He is left a fourth of the estate remaining after deduction of a $100,000 trust fund and certain specific bequests. He will ultimately receive a fourth of the $100,000 fund also.
Mr Kissam was chairman of the board of the South American Development company which he formed in 1896 to develop gold resources in Ecuador.
He died at age 82 on Jan 29. His estate, declared formally to be "more than $20,000," is believed to be large. It has not been appraised.

Miss Frances Evelyn Payne of 12 E. 69th st Manhattan, daughter of Mr and Mrs Ralph Payne of Rushville, Ind., will be married to Lewis Sayre Kerr Jr., son of Mr and Mrs Louis S Kerr of 1 W. 72nd st., Manhattan, on Wednesday of next week.
Miss Payne received her education at Hollons College, Virginia. Mr Kerr attended the Pomfret School and was a member of the Class of 1922 at Williams College, Mrs. Kerr, who is the former Miss Louise Vanderbilt Kissam, is the daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Samuel K Kissam, who resided in Brooklyn.
The ceremony will be performed at the home of Mr and Mrs Clifford Hemphill, 12 E 69th st by the Rev, Dr, Roelif H Brooks, rector of St Thomas Church, in the presence of a few relatives and intimate friends.
Miss Virginia Payne will be her sister's only attendant. Samuel Kerr will act as best man for his brother and Mr Hemphill and Eugene Hoffman will be ushers. A small reception will follow.
Mr Kerr and his bride will live in Manhattan.

Spring Lake - The marriage of Mrs. Gale Morrison Maxwell, Pitney Avenue, daughter of Mr and Mrs Thomas Morrison, Lorraine Avenue, to Lewis Sayre Kerr, jk, of Spring Lake and New York, son of Mr and Mrs Lewis Sayre Kerr, took place at 12:30 o'clock today at the home of the bride's [arents. The Rev Dr A. R. Robinson, pastor of the United Presbyterian Church, Pittsburgh, Pa. performed the ceremony.
Samuel Kerr, Trenton, was his brother's best man. A reception and wedding breakfast for the immediate familtes followed the ceremony.
Mr and Mrs Kerr, Jr, will fly to Bermuda Wednesday in the Pan-American Clipper. On their return, after Dec 1, they will make their home on itney Avenue, Spring Lake.
Mr Kerr, a graduate of Williams College, Massachusetts, is a member of the New York Stock Exchange.
Mr Kerr entertained a number of friends at a bachelor's dinner at Eggimann's tavern, Spring Lake Heights, when Stewart Rhodes, also of Spring Lake, acted as toastmaster.
