Jesse Shelton is probably the son of Bennett and Maryan Shelton.He is on the Williamson County, TN tax lists 1815, 1818, 1819, 1822, 1823, and 1830.
He is on the Williamson County, TN census 1820, 1840, 1850 (age 57, born in VA, with son Bennett M. age 7.)
It is noted that another Jesse Shelton associated with a G. Washington Shelton is found in Davidson County, TN during the same time period as the Jesse Shelton of Williamson County, TN. The Sheltons of Davidson County do not seem to share the known Shelton family ties as the Thomas and Washington Shelton of Williamson County.
