Thomas Shelton of Williamson County, TN was probably the son of Bennett and Maryan Shelton.He was on the Williamson County, TN tax list 1827, 1828, 1829, and 1830 and on the Williamson County census 1830, 1840.
In 1842, he sold 50 acres on S. Harpeth River “where Bennett Shelton lives” to Washington Shelton.
In 1842, in Williamson County, TN he used land and stone cutting business as collateral for debts.
In 1850, in Davidson County, TN, Thomas Shelton, age 47, born VA, stonecutter, living with G. McWhorter.
In 1860, in Davidson County, Thomas Shelton, age 56, stonecutter, wife Rachel, son John, age 10.
In 1870, in Wilson County, TN, Thomas Shelton, age 66, born VA, stonecutter, Rachel, John D. ,age 22.
Thomas Shelton, a stonemason, helped build the Tennessee Capitol building.
Two of his descendants' DNA tested Chilton/Shelton.
