Washington Shelton is probably a son of Bennett and Maryan Shelton.He was on Williamson County, TN tax list in 1823, 1827, 1828, 1829, and 1830; and census 1840.
In 1826, he sold 78 acres on Big Harpeth, E of Old Natchez Trace in Williamson County, TN to Thomas Shelton.
In 1842, he purchased from Thomas Shelton land and house "where Bennett Shelton now lives.”
Living in Perry County, TN in 1850, age 53, born in VA, with wife Mary.
In 1857, Washington Shelton of Perry County, TN sold 50 acres in Williamson County, TN, where Bennett Shelton lives.
Three of his children married descendants of Elias Shelton, son of Nancy "Ann" Shelton Dodson, daughter of Charles (died 1795.)
His children: Josephus, Olynthus G., Mary, Elizabeth, Virginia, George, Albert, Sarah, and Williamson.
