His son, Dr. Thomas Duncan a physician in Fleta, Montgomery Co., AL, was featured in " Notable Men of Alabama", a book with personal and genealogical material and portraits, by Joel Campbell Dubose,1904, in material from Donna Little , 8-1982, and in material from the Duncan family files at Alabama State Archives.
From Vol.1, pages 66-67: Dr. Thomas Duncan, physician, Fleta (Montgomery Co.), AL, was born in Crenshaw Co., AL Aug. 16, 1866. He is the son of John A. Duncan and Catherine (Norman) Duncan, father native of Tuscaloosa Co., AL, and the mother of Wilmington, NC. The Duncan family were early settlers of Alabama. John A. Duncan died at the age of 81 years. He was a farmer. He was a private in the Confederate service during the entire Civil War. There were, of his family, ten children, seven of whom are livivng. Dr. Thomas Duncan is the second youngest of the family. He was reared on the farm, receiving his early education in the common schools, with two years at Ft. Deposit, Ala.....He was married, Sept. 7.1892, to Zererah Sellers, a native of Montgomery Co., AL.
