Individual Details
Peter Hitt
(1726 - 31 Aug 1810)
Peter and Sarah Hitt operated a General Store in Fauquier Co - an account book is said to be at the library of the Virginia Baptist Historical Society. During the Revolution he served in Virginia Continental Line and was wounded and taken prisoner at the Battle of Camden in South Carolina. His land was adjacent that of his brother Harmon, near a branch of the Great Run of the Rappahannock.
He has been accepted as a DAR Patriot for furnishing material. It's obvious that the many Hitts that carry the same given name have been confused by researchers.
