Found the following:

with the rosters of the 3rd Battalion.
And then in Company C, not B, I found James W. Blakey listed. I checked to see if perhaps he had filed for his Confederate pension from the state of TX but he's not in the database.

He enlisted 3 Feb 1862 at Pond Spring, by L. C. Campbell for 12 months. He was paid for his horse, so apparently brought his own. By July of 1862, he was said to be in Company C [new]. The Muster Roll for July & August 1863, states that he was Absent, "cut off with Lowring at Baker's Creek. The Sep-Oct Muster Roll lists him as "deserted". Jan-Feb of 1864, he was in Company A of the 3rd Regt and again present - listed as having enlisted 1 Sep of 1863 [would appear he simply changed Companies about that time]. His Historic Roll gives his occupation as Farmer, residence as Springfield, Greene Co MO. He served as a Private in Capt Campbell's Company of Scouts for the 7th Div. He served 6 months engaged at Crane Creek, Oak Hill, Elkhorn, Bentonville, Farmington, Corinth, Iuka, Baker's Creek, Jackson, on the retreat from there went to the T.M.D. [I don't know what that was...] He appeared on a roll of Prisoner's of War, surrendered at New Orleans 26 May 1865 and parolled at Shreveport, LA on 7 Jun 1865. A note contained in his file states that J. W. Blakey was detached on extra duty to herd horses, 26 Mar 1862, at Saw Prairie, AR, and continued on duty until Apr 14th for which he was entitled to 19 days extra duty pay.

1870 Grayson Co TX Census. PO: Kentucky Town; Household 102.
