Benjamin H. Wilson

(Abt 1819 - )

I believe this to be Benjamin's marriage:
Benjamin H. Wilson married Isabell Ann McGinniss, 13 Feb 1840, St. Louis Co Missouri. [St. Louis, Mo Marriages, 1804-76 - database on Ancestry.com]
Married by A. Bullard, Paster of 1st Presbyterian Church

Manchester/Bonhomme Township, St. Louis Co MO, p.357, Household 1176
Mary Wilson, age 49, b. KY
Benjm, age 31, Carpenter, b. KY
Isabella, age 31, b. KY
Anna E. age 7, John 5, Arabella 4, Elvira 3 - all b. MO
[obviously Benjamin & family are living with Mary - perhaps in a separate house on the place since they weren't counted by the other enumerator who counted Mary for the second time in 1850]
Nancy age 28, b. MO as are all the rest of the children
Acurtes, age 27 [you told me this was Lycurgus, now we know where the "Acurtes" came from]
Leonidas age 25 [wonder where the boys were when the other enumerator was there ....or did this enumerator have Mary list ALL her children whether or not they were living at home?]
Agnes, age 22
Sarah, age 19
Jane age 16
and Mary age 13.

The above is likely full of errors - Benjamin's mother was counted twice in 1850 and apparently gave the names of ALL her children in the above.

1850 Census. 24th Dist, Lafayette Co, MO, Hh 135
Benjamin H. Wilson, age 31, carpenter, b. KY [his brother Lycurgus was also a carpenter]
Isabella, age 31, b. KY
Ann E. 9, John S. 7, Elvira H. 4, Arabella 2, all b. MO
John McGinnis, 23, laborer, b. MO
On the slave schedule for 1850, B. H. Wilson is listed with a 14-year-old female slave.

Apparently Isabella died and Ben remarried between 1850 and 1860.
1860 Census. Lexington, Lafayette Co MO, Hh 232

Adelaide, age 32, b. MD
children b. MO: Eliza 19. John 17. Arabella 13. Campbell 10. Thos. 6. Russell, age 3.
[I cannot be sure if both the younger boys were Adelaides, only Russell, or neither.]

Benjamin Wilson, age 52, carpenter, b. KY
