A database on RootsWeb's WorldConnect, has this William Stoops as married to a Mary Ann Wilson who was the daughter of David Wilson & Ann Vineyard, b. 13 Jan 1831 in Virginia. However; the daughter of David doesn't match any of the censuses in age. There is a question about his wife in 1880 - the age matches neither possibility. This database has also assumed the wrong age for William Stoops, and his age is quite consistent in the census records.
