Born to Ruth Naomi Rees/e, born Dec 8 1889 Kansas, and Edwin Mortimer Ashley, born 1880 in Kansas, He was the youngest of 9 children the first child Fred born 1907, Preston born 1909 Mildred born 1911, Richard Harding Ashley born 1915, Dorothy, Wanda, Camille, Marjorie born 1929 died at six months of age 1929, then David born 1931.
David married Daryl Nita Landmesser . They had four daughters, Debbie Lenz, Darnell (Tony) Garcia, Denise (Sam) Santschi, Diana (Paul) Netland. He had 7 living grandchildren one predeceased him Jimi Santschi passed Oct 11 1991.
he had 8 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
He married Carol Kozar in 1985 they were married for 24 years.
He worked at Edwards Air Force Base,then to McDonnel Douglas, then on to Thiokol, in Utah, Then Thiokol in Georgia, Then back to California in 1965 and worked at Mcdonnel Douglas until he retired in 2003.He lived in Corona, California when he retired and then his wife Carol and him moved to Kingman Arizona where he passed away. He was buried at Riverside National Cemetery Jan 11 2010. The Mason's presided over the funeral as did a pastor from a friends church.
He Joined the Masons when he lived in Woodbine Georgia. He got many awards while working at Douglas.
The family requested donations be given to the heart association or the cancer society.
The one thing he wanted to do before he died was to find his brother Richard Harding Ashley or at least his family so he would know about him. That sadly did not happen.
