Ruth Rees was born to David Howard Rees and Olive Charlotte Tyner, in Edgerton Kansas. She was the second of 5 children. She was preceeded in death by her Husband Edwin Mortimer Ashley, daughter Majorie Ashley, father and mother. And her sisters Edna and Ida. She was a very strong woman and helped anyone she could. She sorely missed her son Richard Harding Ashley who she had not seen since the early 1930's.

Mrs. Ruth N Ashley ,77, of 891 E. 6th St, died in Park Avenue Hospital Wednesday morning after a short illness. She was born in Edgerton, Kansas., Dec 8 1889, came to California with her family in 1921 and had lived most of her life in this area. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Pomona. Surviving ar two sons, Preston. E., Ashley, Montclair,David Ashley, Cypress; four daughters, Mrs. Mildred Willsey,Twin Peaks, Mrs Dorothy Yvonne Fife, Campbell, Mrs Camille Cissna, Oakdale anbd Mrs Wanda Ruth Bristow, Mentone; 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be at The Gippie Blackman Mortuary Saturday at 11:30 am with the Rev. R. Lee Pryor of the First Christian Church Officiating. Entombment will be in Pomona Mausoleum, Contributions may be sent to the Orthopedic Hospital in the name of David (her son) and Ruth Ashley. Private commital will be made in the Pomona Mausoleum.
