Col. Adam Comstock

Served as Lt. Col. in Col. Christopher Greene's Rhode Island Regiment. In the battle at Red Bank, NJ Oct 22, 1777, the commanding officer was wounded and Comstock took command and won the battle. Was at Valley Forge, Dec of 1777.

Col. Adam was for many years Judge of the Court of Common Pleas, Saratoga County, NY. All but his youngest child (he had 17) were born in Warwick, RI

COMSTOCK, Col. Adam, aged 80, a Revolutionary patriot, died May 10 in Saratoga Co, N.Y. He early entered the field on the side of the colonies. He was soon promoted by General Washington to a Colonel. At the signal victory of the Red Bank, he was the officer of the day, and alternately commanded with General Samuel Smith of Md. in the gallant affair at Mud Fort. (May 12.)
