[For some unexplainable reason, the boys were listed as born in Indiana and their parents were listed as their father born in Pennsylvania, mother born in Delaware. I believe this was a confusion with the family that follows, because without a doubt these boys were born to George & Minnie right there in Van Buren.]

Death of Wallace Hays. The end to Wallace Hays, who has been sick with Typhoid Fever for several weeks, came early Sunday morning. He leaves a devoted wife and young children who have the sympathy of a large circle of friends in their sad bereavement.
The funeral was held from the home of the deceased Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock, interment being in the Peevyhouse Cemetery. The services were conducted by Rev. S. A. Cox, and the interment was under the auspices of the IOOF, of which the deceased was a member for many years. There were many from Van Buren and his funeral procession was a very long one.
I always try to watch for any family connections that could lead back to a Hays family in North Carolina. And why the Hays family decided to move to Johnson County, AR from Tippah Co, MS. I discovered that there was a Wallace family from Person Co, NC that was in Johnson Co AR by 1850. In fact in 1850 when I found Nicholas R. Hays [possibly one of Delitha's sons] in Pittsburg Township, Johnson Co, he was living near Nathan Grantham, whose son married Delitha's granddaughter, and the family of Sidney and Martha Wallace Cazort and her mother Jane Wallace. Also in Pittsburg Twp was Orren Wallace, a brother to Martha Wallace Cazort. Orren had a son named George Wallace, born in 1845. In 1860, Orren and family was two households away from Elias Hays and his family - Orren's George than age 15, and Elias's son George Wallace Hays not yet born. Living in Spadra Township, Johnson Co, in 1850 was Vincent Wallace, another brother of Orren and Martha. One of Vincent's sons - William, born 1848 - would move to Crawford County, AR about 1875. Orren also named a son Vincent, after his brother. This seems to be a strange coincidence since Delitha Hays had a daughter who married a man with the surname Vincent. The parents of these Wallace siblings were Jane, as found in 1850 -and Robert Wallace who died 8 Oct 1846. Certainly the Wallace and Hays families were acquainted in Johnson Co, AR - could it be that they had also known each other in North Carolina.
