William Felts

(30 Sep 1792 - Bef 31 Oct 1834)

William Felts appeared on the Logan Co tax list in 1817, declaring only himself, a white male over 21, and 1 horse. His brother Samuel declared the same in 1817. This was in fact the only year, he appeared on the tax rolls, until 1834 when he was listed with 200 acres on the Gasper. In 1835, Nathaniel W. Felts, as administrator for William Felts, declared tax on 119 acres, Muddy Creek, Butler Co, entered by Shelton which could be part of the land that Archibald had declared in his lifetime and willed to William.

In 1820, there was a William Felts living in Hopkinsville, Christian Co KY. He was age 26-45, which would be the correct category for this William. However, the name Felts is not at all clear, and the makeup of the household is strange. There are 3 males between 16-26, 1 male 26-45; 1 female under 10, 3 females 10-16, and one female over age 45.

31 Oct 1834 Inventory and appraisal of the estate of William Felts. Appraisers were Alexander Moody, John Whitaker, Thomas Rhea. Administrator, Nathaniel "M" Felts. I believe this should have been either Nathaniel W. or Nathaniel H. as there is no Nathaniel "M" known in Logan Co at this time. Since Nathaniel W. had administered estates of others - Archibald, James - I suspect this is Nathaniel W. particularly since he declared tax on his property.
