Steven Owens died this morning at 5:30 o'clock at his home north of this city at the age of seventy-eight years. The funeral will be held from the Flatrock Baptist Church Sunday morning at 10:30 o'clock and burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
Mr. Owens was born in this county and spent his entire life here. He was a farmer most all of his life but for years ran a saw mill and threshing outfit in connection with farming. His neighbors say he was the most truthful man they ever saw and it was often said that Steve Owens would not tell a lie to save his life.
He leaves a wife and ten children, eight girls, and two boys.
