John D. Casteel, 83, 441 County Line Rd, Crestline, died at 9:25 pm Wenesday, Sep 15 in Galion Community Hospital. He had been in failing health six years.
Mr. Casteel was born March 14, 1899 in London, KY to Granville and Mary Francis (Holt) Casteel. He married the former Mae Depew, Sept 15, 1938 (1928); she survives.
Also surviving are three children, Mrs. Ada Mayfield, Galion; Mrs. Thelma Phillips, Portage, Ind. and Oscar Casteel of Crestline; 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and three brothers, L. J. Casteel, Corbin, KY; Ton, Morristown, Tenn.; and Edward, Ludlow, KY. Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Mr. Casteel was a retired trackman for the Louisville and Nashville Railroad and was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Sunday at the Snyder-Kubach Funeral Home, Galion, with Rev. Clause Massingill officiating. Burial will be in Iberia Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home, Friday from 7 to 9 pm and Saturday afternoon and evening.
